The iPhone 4S UK launch draws the biggest UK Apple store queues ever

Even with a minor aesthetic upgrade, Apple's latest iPhone broke all records with a queue of 778 people at the Regent Street store.  The previous record was 668 for the iPhone 4 last year. 57% of the people in the queue were disappointed that the new phone wasn't an iPhone 5, but still went on to buy the 4S.

The data was gathered by gadget insurance company Protect Your Bubble, you can read more about it here.

RIM's failure to handle its 4-day outage

Over the weekend, RIM's Chief Executive Mike Lazaridis apologised to all Blackberry users through YouTube for letting them down. The company will be offering its users free applications to compensate them following the 4-day server outage. During the outage, Apple had released its latest iOS 5 software and launched its iPhone 4S.

The company failed to reassure or help fans through social media channels effectively, leaving many confused or disappointed at the company while emails and BBM were down. It showed sporadic social media activity, especially on Twitter, and did little to compensate fans until today through free applications.

Google+ sees growth whilst Google kills off Buzz and Code Search

Google has announced its plans to shut down Google Buzz and Google Code Search in order to divert more of its attention to Google+. Last week, the search giant revealed a significant growth in net profit last quarter by 26% while in the same time passing 40 million users on Google+.

By integrating each of Google's services with Google+, the company has been eliminating tools that are now redundant. Buzz helped users find interesting content and Code Search helped developers to find open-source code. Last July, Google had also announced the closure of the Google Labs facility, with the aim of integrating it into other Google products and services.
