New UK laws to allow government to monitor calls, emails, texts and web usage
On Sunday, the internet received news that we all hoped would be an April Fools from the BBC. With the aim of tackling crime and terrorism, internet firms will be required to provide the government intelligence agency GCHQ information and access to all user communications on demand.
Email, calls and message content won't be accessible without a warrant, but the recipient, URL and address will be immediately available. 

Twitter catches unfollowing bug
Noticed a drop in your Twitter followers lately? You may have just caught the Twitter 'unfollowing bug'. The company recently announced that a bug was going around the network, causing users to unfollow people without their knowledge. A fix is in the works, but your virtual relationships may have already been strained.

Facebook re-working its search functionality?
According to several sources, notably Bloomberg, Facebook is working on a new 'Facebook search engine'. The rumour was confirmed after Mark Zuckerberg posted a photo of his Macbook Pro, with what many believe was showing a prototype of a new 'search engine'.  Bloomberg claim that the new search function is being led by a former Google engineer - Lars Rasmussen - who developed Google Maps and Google Wave. 

The new Facebook search engine is believed to retrieve all its results from Facebook - so newsfeed updates, links, groups, pages etc.
