YouTube’s redesigned ‘One Channel’ now available to all users
YouTube’s ‘One Channel’ is a new layout that is now available to all users. It replaces the previous user channels.
What is the redesign?
The purpose of the layout ’is to make your channel look great on browsers across all screens and devices’. The redesign also introduces some additional functionality. The key changes are as follows:
Make your first impressions count
Non-subscribers of a channel will be served a trailer to entice them to subscribe to the channel.
Dress up once, look good everywhere
Channel designs and layouts will now scale and resize to look the same across all devices. This will also include any artwork, images and backgrounds.
Advanced playlists
Admins will have greater control over how their playlists and channel videos are organised.
What will be the impact of the redesign?
The ‘One Channel’ will create a consistent look across all platforms. A channel’s artwork, images and backgrounds will become more prominent helping attract new subscribers.
The trailers for non-subscribers will help maximise subscriptions by showcasing the best a channel has to offer. The ability to organise videos and playlists will mean admins can tailor the content in their playlists for their audience.
What do we think?
The One Channel offers brands greater control over how their channels look and how the content is served. Overall the One Channel will have a positive impact for brands who make the effort to redesign their channels.
